Jackdaw studios has played host to its first theatre and circus events with Gum and Goo from Ratupadrainpipe theatre co directed by Naomi Smythe which had a great turn out from audiences and was amazing to see as a piece of theatre delivered without props or technical enhancement. We also hosted the Bristol council arts and culture departments good bye event celebrating all that has been achieved by the team in the past 5 years, with most of the team having been laid off due to government cuts it was great to end on a bit of high note acknowledging all that has been achieved. The support of people like neighbourhood arts officer Ruth Essex and director Phillippa Haynes has been huge in terms of how the Circus has developed since landing in Bristol in 2005. The foundations laid by this team will hopefully be a legacy that will keep Bristol the hotbed of creativity and DIY culture it has become so renowned for.
